When the new railroad came through the S. Morgan Brown plantation the they decided
to establish a post office their and Eldorendo decided to apply for the position
of postmistress there. After taking the required government tests she signed
the papers "Eldorendo Virginia Brown". The notice of her appointment
came along with a statement that the postal officials discovered the town had
no name and they had selected the name "Eldorendo" from the first given
name on her test papers.
